Epiktistes is my home in the Fediverse. It is an instance of Ktistec, a single-user ActivityPub server like Mastodon, but with fewer users and fewer commits. Here's my introduction (last updated early-2025).

heroku does not include ffmpeg so for my mastodon instance I just dropped a static binary ( https://johnvansickle.com/ffmpeg/ ) into the project bin/ directory. a perfect kludge until I work out the correct buildpack. in the meantime video uploads work!

~10 years ago, established coworking spaces existed in New York, San Francisco, Philadelphia and Austin and no one knew what the word meant. today it's a clear "thing" (although I'm still not sure if most know what the word means)
